Day 2 - Frustrating MIDI Instrument Sample Libraries

The biggest feedback I get from my music so far is that the sound of the piano is harsh and it doesn't sound good.

Fixing this is a combination of finding new sample library plugins and adjusting settings like color, tone, reverb, dynamics, eq, delay, attack, wetness, dryness, ratio, compression, etc.

I hate it. I really hate it. I've tried so many things and it never sounds like the great music I hear from other pianists on Spotify.

I wish I could just get it to work and be done with it so I can move on to what I enjoy which is composing.

I just got the Native Instrument Noire sample library and I'm hoping that this will be enough to create a passable sounding piano instrument for pieces going forward. But I still need to get into the settings and tweak them until it sounds good at all pitches and velocities and note durations. It kills me. It's soul sucking.

I'm going to try to not worry about it to much all at once. I'll play around with it as I go and try to get advice and help from others who know better. I basically spent the whole day working on this stuff and I need a break.

It can be hard to take a break through because the more I focus on it the more I notice how weak my sound is and much better the sound is on other artist's music. I'll get there. I'll get there.

Tomorrow I'm back to studying Chopin's minute waltz and finally putting some notes on the page/DAW for my own minute waltz inspired piece. Looking forward to it!
